I'm struggling mightily with my own career and life direction currently, but I do agree with the concept that at a certain point the math doesn't math. I had a friend who worked for Google. Made a TON more money than me. But at a certain point, I started asking explicitly, do you make triple what I make? Because he certainly worked at least double the hours I worked in a year. I wanted to know if he made triple. Because if he didn't, he was just killing himself physically to make the exact same amount (rate) of money that I did, and I wanted him to see it. He finally quit Google, thank goodness.
