Love this! I am kinda in similar shoes (just not as famous as you are ;), though I wrote my first manuscript in Russian. Turns out it's hard to publish books in Russian nowadays, even self-publish, who knew...My husband is pushing me to translate it to English (which I started on my Substack) and look for a real publisher, but I'm kinda still leaning towards self-publishing though I have no marketing skills. In any case, your post provided more food for thought. Thanks!

Great post! Thanks for sharing your thought process and plans. I found it interesting despite not having any intention of writing a book myself.

Austin would love you. Try Book People. Best place and RIGHT next to the downtown REI. If you do any touring in EU, come to Leuven. One of the largest universities in EU, KU Leuven draws an international crowd. The cafe Noirbar is a university favorite, a cycling hotspot (you see professionals riders there regularly), and they have space to host events. The owners, Chris and Muriel, are cool.

Hi Blake, I really appreciated this article. I am writing my first book and planning to self publish. You inspired me to think of all the fun ways I could get my book out into the world and experience lots of joy along the way🙂 I also think you could speak to self directed learner communities as well as they are already open to alternative ways of living and learning🙂 Thank you! Emily
