I feel the same way. I’ve pursued a lot my dreams, many of which I later came to realize weren’t sustainable long term. But I’m glad I did, because now I won’t have to wonder what if.
I’ve just discovered you a few days ago on Substack. I too have taken the road less traveled. I worked as an archaeologist for the US Forest Service and have discovered some truly amazing things. (A cave with prehistoric art work and torches from over a thousand years ago, a Puebloan village in a 100,000 acre wilderness). I also worked as a wildland firefighter on a helicopter crew, and flown all over the country, spending weeks in remote wilderness. Roaming the continent, backpacking, bike packing, paddling, all to experience and share the awe and wonder of this incredible planet. I’m definitely going to read your book!
It's a great post! So delightful to reread.
Love your post, I have lived that way for much of my life and at 65 have zero regrets. Enjoy every year

I love the part about how you have to say "no" to say "yes."
"Prepare for the future by staying in love with life today." How lovely 🥰 thank you for writing!
